Vintage Watch Condition Examination:
This 5513 is in overall great attractive, vintage condition. The case is strong with some normal wear. The bezel ring has remained sharp. The "Long 5" bezel insert has aged nicely over the years to an even super dark gray color throughout, in some lights the bezel has a slightly blue hue. The pip in the bezel is a later replacement. The watch has retained its correct non-triplock crown. The dial is in overall honest condition and has remained glossy; it has developed a light patina throughout with some wear. The hands are in great condition and have developed patina. The lume in the hands has been color corrected to match the color of the lume on the dial, it matches well. The lume plots have developed patina and some show signs of degeneration. The rivet Oyster bracelet is in honest condition with normal wear; it has some stretch between the links which is very common for this style bracelet.
Description: Vintage Rolex Submariner 5513
Rolex introduced ref. 5513 around 1962 and it was in production until 1989. It was one of the longest continually produced references from the brand. Rolex initially used glossy dials in this model and swapped to matte the matte style after 1966. The example we have here is circa 1966 and would be part of the last run of glossy dials.
This example is in overall beautiful, honest condition and the dial has remained glossy. This watch has retained its correct "Long 5" bezel insert that has aged nicely over the years. These glossy dial 5513s are highly sought after and hold a special place in the hearts of collectors.
