Vintage Watch Condition Examination
This Rolex watch is in great, honest vintage condition. The case is strong with normal signs of wear. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the red-back bezel has faded beautifully throughout giving this GMT a great look. The date wheel is a later replacement with open 6s and 9s. The dial is in overall excellent condition with some patina and light wear; this can be hard to notice depending on the lighting. The lovely jet black dial has remained very glossy. The lume has aged to an even pale yellow color throughout. The hands have developed patina and the hour and minute hands are later replacements. The seconds hand has a tiny pin hole in the lume. The hour and minute hands have been color corrected/ relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial and match very well. The jubilee bracelet is in great condition with normal signs of wear some stretch between the links which is not uncommon for this style bracelet.

The GMT Master is Rolex’s signature pilot’s watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It’s one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because it’s instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. The example we have here is from 1966 and features a glossy dial, this would be the last glossy dial variation before Rolex went to the matte dials.

I have worn this watch everyday for 47 years, had it cleaned every 8 or so years, had the bezel replaced with the new one back in the 80s. Paid $400 in Switzerland in 1970. This is the greatest lifetime deal ever!!
